Volunteer

Volunteers are a vital part of the Lone Cone Library. Whether you're looking to give back to your community, fulfill school service learning hours, or complete court-appointed community service, we'd love to have your help.

Quick Start

  • Download and complete the appropriate volunteer packet below.
  • Bring your completed forms on your first day.
  • All hours must be completed during normal library operating hours with staff supervision.

Library Hours: Monday–Friday 10am–5pm · Tuesday until 7pm · Saturday 11am–4pm

Court-ordered volunteers must bring all required court documents on their first day. A background check may be required.


Volunteer Opportunities

Kids Programs

Help support children's programming and activities at the library.

Shelving & Straightening

Keep our collection organized by placing books back on shelves and tidying up.

Computer & Clerical

Assist with computer-related tasks and general clerical support.

Special Events

Lend a hand during library events and community programs.

Cleaning & Dusting

Help keep the library clean and welcoming for everyone.

Groundskeeping

Assist with outdoor and grounds maintenance around the library.


Volunteer Packets

Download the packet that applies to you below, complete all pages, and bring it with you on your first day.

Adult Volunteer Packet

For volunteers 18 and older. Includes application, waiver of liability, conduct agreement, and confidentiality policy. A background check authorization form is included if needed.

Minor Volunteer Packet

For volunteers under 18. Includes application, waiver of liability requiring a parent or guardian signature, conduct agreement, and confidentiality policy.


Types of Service

General Volunteers

Open to adults and teens who want to give back to the community. All hours completed under staff supervision during library operating hours.

School Service Learning

Students completing service learning hours for school are welcome. Bring any required school paperwork on your first day.

Court & Community Appointed

Court-ordered community service hours are accepted. All required court documents must be provided at the start of service. Hours must be completed during normal library operating hours with staff supervision. A background check may be required.

Important

  • All volunteers must maintain the confidentiality of patron records and personal information.
  • Volunteers are expected to arrive on time and dress appropriately for their tasks.
  • Any borrowed keys or materials must be returned at the end of each session.
  • Please notify staff of any changes to your contact information.
